about

I recorded most of this album in early 2005 when I lost my job & needed rent money. I was experimenting with chopped & screwed music at the time, & used a slightly different approach. As opposed to recording the song then slowing the whole thing down, I would speed the beat up, record the lyrics at that higher bpm, then slow the vocals down to the original bpm. Therefore the vocals would get that lower pitch, but the beat would stay the same. I thought it was clever at the time. This album was recorded, for the most part, at the Sevier St Fist Fam house. I hope y'all attended a party or two there.

about

Philo Asheville, North Carolina

A walking paradox. A man all his own. Philo has been heavy in the game for years. Philo currently performs with a full 8 piece band backing him, including a horn section composed with members of Empire Strikes Brass & Debrissa McKinney. ... more
